Oscar Bond Salon is Now Sam Brocato Salon
Longtime beauty industry veteran, Sam Brocato, and wife, Holly, purchased fellow industry giants Oscar and Wendy Bond's New York City salon this July. Both couples, who are lifelong friends, will lead the salon through the transition with Wendy and Oscar planning to remain on board indefinitely.
"We're excited to work with Wendy and Oscar and make it into a powerhouse - an epicenter of innovative design and creativity. This will be our flagship New York city location," said Sam.
Oscar and Wendy will remain executive company members of the salon.
Oscar and Wendy started the Soho salon 10 years ago, turning an unfinished basement into a successful, 18-chair salon and education center.
Sam and his wife, Holly, were itching to return to the salon business. Oscar and Wendy, however, were not planning to sell the salon, said Wendy.
"We actually called Sam to ask him about opening a school," she said. "As things progressed, Sam asked us if we had thought about selling. We felt it was a combination of fate, opportunity, and timing."
Oscar, a former creative director for Aveda, and his wife, Wendy, were feeling a growing passion for education as the creative directors for Lanza.
"Oscar and I feel that this sale will allow us to pursue our long-time dream of Oscar's to own a school," said Wendy last week. "Our next steps are to work towards that dream and also spend time with our family. We feel so fortunate to hand over our business to such capable and wonderful people."
Sam sold his salon empire and moved to New York city 8 years ago. Lockworks USA was 6 locations with 180 staff. In Manhattan, he grew Brocato, his designer haircare line, that now spans 16 countries. Sam and Holly also raised their young children, Sam said. Sam is the president and creative director for Brocato. The new Sam Brocato Salon will be wholly owned by the Brocato family.
